His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has sent congratulatory messages to Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XIII of Malaysia, and Prime Minister Dato' Sri Muhd Najib Tun Hj Abdul Razak on the occasion of its 53rd Independence Day today.In the message to Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, His Majesty expressed that he greatly values the longstanding friendship and close cooperation that has existed between Brunei and Malaysia.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Saadul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has again underscored the supremacy of the holy Al-Quran. His Majesty was speaking in a titah at the Revelation of the Al- Quran anniversary observance for the year 1431 Hijrah last night. The celebration took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas. His Majesty pointed that Muslims, as possessors of the Al-Quran, are most fortunate as it is a torch, treasure and saviour of Muslims both on earth and in the hereinafter.

Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah celebrated the achievements of 61 of its students with an award ceremony held at Dewan Takaful Dar Takaful IBB Utama in the capital.
The school fetes excellence in both academic and in memorising Al-Quran every year, as a motivation that would create an environment of competition and improve the school's achievement.
