Haji Mahrub Haji Murni reads Master (Education) in Management and married to Dayang Hajah Seimah binti Hj Abd Salam. They are blessed with 7 children.
He received state decoration and medals such as Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB), Pingat Kerja Lama (PKL) and Pingat Seri and Darjah Setia Negara Brunei yang Amat Bahagia (PSB).
Haji Mahrub started his career as a teacher in 1984 to educate pre-university students at Pusat Tingkatan Enam, now known as Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah in areas such as Geography, Economics and General Paper.
He then promoted as Deputy Principal of Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah in 1990. Later as Principal Sayiddina Umar Al-Khatab Secondary School 1994 – 1998, Principal SMJA Secondary School 1998 – 2003 and Principal Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah 2003 – 2004. Haji Mahrub afterward promoted as Assistant Director Co-Curricular Education Department, Ministry of Education 2004 – 2007.
Haji Mahrub join the Prime Minister’s Office as the Director of Information, Information Department from 2007 – 2008 then to Director of Radio Televisyen Brunei 2008 – 2009.
Haji Mahbrub promoted as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office since 25th September 2009.
He used to be the Chairman for Sub Committee on Information Brunei (ASEAN-COCI), Chairman for ASEAN Television News Exchange ( ATN ) Programme, Brunei National Badminton Association (1990-1998) and Chairman of the principal Committee.
He had contributed to the hosting of the Badminton World Grand Prix in Brunei, conducted proposal of the school administrators’ development and involved in all the National Events since 1983 at the levels of school, departmental and national. He did present Paper at ISESCO on Islamic Education in Brunei Darussalam and Manama, Bahrain.
Currently he sits in Board Chair of Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam and he is also Deputy Chairman of Public Relations Committee. (JPAKK-JJK)
On his leisure, Haji Mahrub plays Badminton, football, futsal and cycle.
