Pengiran Abdul Haris started his career as an Administrative Officer at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources in 1988. He was transferred to the Prime Minister’s Office in 1990 was promoted as Special Grade Administrative Officer. In end of 1994, he joined Ministry of Health and two years later, he joined Ministry of Home Affairs. In 1998, Pengiran Abdul Haris was Acting Senior Administrative Officer at the Public Service Department.  Between 2000 to 2004, Pengiran Abdul Haris held the position of Assistant District Officer for the Tutong District Office and the Brunei and the Muara District Office respectively. In April 2006, he was promoted to become the Acting District Officer of the Temburong District Office and was confirmed as District Officer in June 2005. In September 2006, Pengiran Abdul Haris was appointed the Acting Royal Custom & Excise Controller at the Royal Custom and Excise Department. In January 2008, Pengiran Abdul Haris was appointed the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Pengiran Abdul Haris has been awarded The Most Blessed Order Of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei, Third Class (S.M.B)  in 2006 and P.I.K.B in 2002.

Pengiran Abdul Haris holds a Bsc Hons Combined Sciences (Biology & Chemistry). Pengiran Abdul Haris also attended The Executive Development Programme for Senior Officers (EDPSGO) in 2005.

Pengiran Abdul Haris  was appointed the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office on 25 September 2009. He has the responsibilities of overviewing the Media and Cabinet Affairs Division. Prior to his appointment at the Prime Minister’s Office, Pengiran Abdul Haris was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Pengiran Abdul Haris likes badminton and soccer. He is married with three sons and two daughters.
