
AWANG HAJI ISMAIL BIN PEHIN ORANG KAYA PEKERMA SETIA DATO PADUKA HAJI HASHIM
DEPUTY PERMANENT SECRETARY AT ENERGY DIVISION
Yang Mulia Tuan Haji Ismail is the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office and was appointed on 7 January 2008. The Deputy Permanent Secretary’s role in the Energy Division is to assist the Minister of Energy on energy matters including policy, planning and regulation as well as overseeing the administration and operations of the Energy Division at the Prime Minister’s Office, the Petroleum Unit, regulator for the oil and gas industry, and the Department of Electrical Services, the state-owned electricity utility supplier, which are the departments under the purview of the Minister of Energy.
Before his appointment as Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Mulia Haji Ismail was Director of Planning at the Department of Economic Planning and Development. Previously, Yang Mulia Tuan Haji Ismail had also assumed several in the Government such as the Senior Executive Engineer at the Department of Electrical Services as well as being Head of Transmission and Distribution Section. He started his career in the government as an Engineer at the Department of Electrical Services in January 1983.
Yang Mulia Tuan Haji Ismail was born on 23 August 1958 and is married to Dayang Hajah Nur Amalina binti Haji Mohammad Aarif and has 2 sons and 4 daughters. Honours and decorations received includes Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (P.I.K.B) 13 September 1993, the Most Blessed Order of Seri Setia Negara Brunei – Fourth Class (P.S.B) – 23 July 1996, Meritorous Services Medal (P.J.K) – 18 February 1999, The Most Honorable of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei – Third Class (S.M.B) – 18 February 2002 and Pingat Kerja Lama (P.K.L) – 22 January 2007.
