

The Qatar Embassy in the country held a reception last night in conjunction with the state's National Day. Brunei Darussalam and Qatar have established diplomatic relations since the 2nd of October 1991.
Majesty's Government was represented at the reception by the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Dewa Retired Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Mohammad; while the state of Qatar was represented by Qatar's Head of Mission in the country, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim A. Al-Abdulla.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, highlighted the importance of religion and repentance in his titah to celebrate the arrival of the new Islamic year Hijrah 1431.
His Majesty expressed hope that the new Islamic year will bring blessings to the country and nation.
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, last night awarded five prominent figures the Anugerah Tokoh Ugama (Religious Figure Award) and the Anugerah Bakti Hijrah (Hijrah Dedication Award).
Selected according to their expertise in religious fields, such as education, propagation, judiciary, legislation, mosque affairs, administration and other fields involving Islam, the awards were given in recognition for their contribution to the promotion of Islam in the Sultanate. Awarded the Anugerah Tokoh Ugama was Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Amin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Rahim.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Wadaullah, the Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam this evening attended the Muslim New Year 1431 Hijrah celebration. The national level ceremony was held at the Jame 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.
On arrival, His Majesty was greeted by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain, as the Executive Committee Chairman of major events in the Islamic calendar. Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik.
